Morning Walk

I decided to take advantage of a relatively cool morning in the midst of these hot humid Dog Days and get out for a walk. Naturalist Weekly blog has some interesting information and haiku about this microseason called Damp Earth Humid Heat. Mostly, I am hunkering down indoors in the air conditioned house.

I caught a few scenes with good light and dark contrast to paint later. I saw some rabbits and a doe with two fawns deep in the woods. I noticed that some portions of the paths look almost lavender in the half shadows. All of these things I need to figure out in order to paint better. I think I will use this one as an inspiration photo. It has a good balance of light and dark areas but the composition needs to be simplified.
